Transportation Analyst I

Work Location: Latham, NY

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour


ABOUT DRIVE

Drive Engineering is a leading DBE/MBE provider of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Engineering, and Transportation Planning and Engineering consulting services in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our staff is experienced in all project aspects from the early planning stages to the project completion, including plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) development and construction design services for both design-bid-build and design-build projects. We have planning, design, review, and construction inspection experience in large scale ITS and Traffic Signal deployments. As a small and growing firm, Drive Engineering is committed to investing in the professional development of our staff. We are looking for key project staff members to work closely with public clients and prime contractors. The position is an opportunity to be in a cutting-edge field within an expanding company


POSITION DESCRIPTION  

The Transportation Analyst will be tasked with a broad range of responsibilities within the realm of data analysis related to the performance of the Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operations. The Transportation Analyst will also assist the NYSDOT TMC Director in other areas including asset management support. 


Additional responsibilities may include activities such as:

  • Developing and preparing monthly TMC reports utilizing data generated from multiple internal sources including the Automated Transportation Management System (ATMS), Daily Roadwork Reports, Incident Reports, TMC Call logs, Highway Emergency Local Patrol (HELP) Statistics, etc.
  • Assisting the NYSDOT TMC Director with updating the Region 1 TMC Operator Training Manual and the Region 1 TMC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Developing quarterly reports for Region 1 TMC Operations
  • Assisting the NYSDOT TMC Director with development of reports highlighting the effectiveness and activities of the Region 1 TMC
     

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

The Transportation Analyst I will report directly to the NYSDOT TMC Director and Consultant Operations Manager.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Urban or Regional Planning, Data Analytics, Computer Programming, Civil Engineering, or a related field, OR
  • Minimum 6 years of equivalent work experience in a related field


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Candidates for this position should be proficient in the following areas: 

  • Computer/software - including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases, and
  • Data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
