Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement, PennDOT Bureau of Maintenance and Operations

Drive Engineering leads implementation of the Pennsylvania Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement (AWZSE) Program in the Eastern region. Drive coordinates with construction projects in PennDOT District 6, schedules unit deployment from the System Administrator depot located in Philadelphia, and performs quality control on field deployment and enforcement by the AWSE Program.  Additionally, Drive conducts compliance testing on the enforcement units on a regular basis to ensure AWZSE units comply with state legislation.  

Drive has been involved with the AWZSE program since the program was being developed.  Drive was tasked with the development of a Guidance Document for the Implementation and Testing aspect of the AWZSE deployment process. This document focused on Hardware and Software Development, System Integration, User Acceptance Testing, and Personnel Training. Drive also assisted PennDOT with their vendor procurement process, specifically by developing a document that outlined a standardized vendor demonstration process.
