SYSTEMS ENGINEER I

Location:  Blue Bell, PA  


Description:  Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer with 5 years of experience working on various transportation systems engineering projects. Relevant experience may include ITS architecture development, network engineering, systems engineering studies/report development, gaps analysis, transition planning, and concept of operations projects for large transportation agencies. This position also includes software/system acceptance testing, database design/documentation, software and web development, and real-time data analytics. Typical projects include work on ITS and connected/autonomous vehicle programs, tolling technology installation and integration, integrated corridor management design, and other electrical and communications (mainly fiber optic and wireless) design related to the transportation industry. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  Primary job responsibilities will include development of ITS architecture, standard operating procedures, concepts of operations, and other technical studies, reports, and documentation for regional transportation management centers in New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Primary job responsibilities require candidates to: 

· Follow a systems engineering process 

· Interview key stakeholders to define problems and needs 

· Develop comprehensive requirements and solutions 

· Present recommendations to stakeholders 

· Build consensus among various stakeholders 

· Coordinate and work with interdisciplinary teams 

· Develop associated Systems Engineering diagrams, documents, reports, designs, and presentations 


Education and Requirements:

· BS or MS Degree in Engineering or a related planning field 

· Excellent technical skills and ability to analyze complex logic/systems 

· Self-motivated with ability to prioritize tasks and complete work on time with minimal supervision

Systems Engineer I

NYSDOT Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center 

Work Location: Hawthorne, NY 

Rate: $35/hr  


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer with 0-5 years of experience on various architecture development, network engineering, systems engineering, gap analysis, and concept of operations projects for large transportation agencies. This position also includes software/system acceptance testing, database design/documentation, software and web development, and real-time data analytics. 

The Systems Engineer is responsible for working closely with the NYSDOT Systems Engineer (If NYSDOT does not have a Systems Engineer, then the Consultant Systems Engineer will assume the position) to facilitate and coordinate the installation, operation, repair, relocation and maintenance of the TMC’s ITS and networking hardware and software. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for system security and performance. The TMC’s operate 24/7/365 and as such the TMC systems and ITS elements need to be fully secure and operational.  The person in this role will be on call 24/7 and will be responsible for ensuring that the TMC systems are fully functional and will minimize down time for any hardware or software. 


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:  Reports directly to the HVTMC Systems Engineer II. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education and Experience:  

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; 

· Possess a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification; and 

· A minimum of 1-year work experience with IT network setup, security and administration. 


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Candidates for this position should have some familiarity in the following areas:  

· Knowledge of Windows 7, 10, Server and Linux, operating systems and maintenance. 

· Knowledge of advanced networking troubleshooting. 

· Electrical AC\DC and Solar 

· Telecom – Cellular, Serial, TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, IGMP, Fiber Optics, etc. 

· Detection (Video, Radar, Acoustic, Loops etc) 

· Database skills using MS SQL+ Server, Excel and Access 

· Able to read/interpret HVTMC System record plans 

· Wireless/Radio 

· Database skills 

· Programming skills 

· Basic engineering and IT administration qualifications need to be noted prior to any specific tasks. 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

It is desired, but not required, that candidates for this position be proficient in the following areas:   

· ITS devices including:  

· Closed Circuit Television (CCTV); 

· Variable Message Signs (VMS); 

· Highway Advisory Radio (HAR); 

· Programming skills (C, C++, JAVA, etc.), web design and programming; 

· Experience with wireless (Radio and Cellular) and fiber optic communication systems; 

· Intermediate or higher level of skill with MSSQL + Server; and

Transportation Analyst III

NYSDOT Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center

Work Location: Hawthorne, NY 

Rate: $20/hr 


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Transportation Analyst will assist the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center (HVTMC) and NYSDOT in informing the public and partner agencies on the impact of weather, construction, maintenance, and other activities; ensure that work zone setup meet department standards and conform to policies; report on and ensure that the Department’s external condition reporting systems (OpenReach and 511NY.org) are timely and accurate; collect, analyze and report on TMC performance; assist in TMC asset management and recordkeeping; conduct TMC/TSMO related studies/investigations, assist in ITS scope development, and work with contractors to correct reporting deficiencies in TMC systems. Analysts will also assist with day to day TMC operations and provide as need support to system operators. 


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

Reports directly to designee as specified by the Operations Manager and NYSDOT TMC Manager 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:


Education and Experience:  

•Either Bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) level 2; OR 

•a minimum 5 years of equivalent work experience in construction inspection, supervision, or management with experience in roadwork and work zone traffic control. 


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Candidates for this position should be proficient in the following areas:  

•computer/Software including: MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases, and 

•personnel management, and 

•Work Zone Traffic Control design and/or implementation, and 

•data analytics including: economic evaluation, systems evaluation and predictability/performance evaluation, and 

•Geographic Information System (GIS), asset management, basic software development; and 

•some experience with mapping (ArcMap, ArcView, other)

Description:  Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer II with 2-5 years of experience.  The Systems Engineer II will be responsible for providing professional consultant services regarding design, development, testing, implementation, and support of software applications and databases.   


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include collaborating with client and project stakeholders to gather and document application requirements.  Projects and tasks may include all aspects of application development including feature design, UX/UI, SQL development, backend coding, implementation and deployment.  


Primary job responsibilities require candidates to: 

· Comply with coding standards and technical design. 

· Design and develop Web and Windows Applications in support of business requirements. 

· Participate in technical planning and requirements gathering. 

· Monitor and assist with software testing and validation procedures and programming.

Traffic Operations Specialist

Description:  Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated Traffic Operations Specialist with minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience working closely with engineers, planners, emergency responders, and legislators to develop transportation operations training, planning, and operational documents and technical reports. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  Primary job responsibilities will include development of emergency response plans, standard operating procedures, and concepts of operations for regional transportation management centers in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Daily tasks may include development/ documentation of systems, design calculations, data collection and analysis, field surveys, and technical writing related to various aspects of ITS, ITS system design, Transportation planning and operations, ITS operations, TMC Operations and Traffic Incident Management. 


Education and Requirements:

· BS or MS Degree in communications, emergency management, or a related planning field 

· Excellent time management and communication skills 

· Excellent writing, public speaking, and graphical presentation skills 

· Experience with ArcGIS and Microsoft Access or similar database files preferred 

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on MS Excel 

· Web development or software development skills are a plus
