Reports To: Drive/MDTA
Summary: Drive Engineering is currently seeking a TET III or IV construction inspector for the MDTA in the Baltimore/Annapolis Area. Inspection duties required but not limited to:
- Inspection of traffic-related items (OH Signs, Message Boards, guiderail, etc.), both new installations and repair of damages.
- Inspect grading, surfacing and drainage structures for satisfactory work and adherence to plans and specifications
- Operate instruments, keep notes and make some computations
- Conduct basic tests on soils, asphalt, cements/concrete, aggregates, bituminous products and/or industrial coatings
- Working knowledge of electrical item and concrete testing (ACI) are preferred.
Education and Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Three (3) years of experience in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning. College credits may be substituted for years of experience.
- High School Graduate or equivalent and able to perform mathematical calculations and follow technical instructions
- Maryland Maintenance and Operation of Traffic Certification (MOT) http://www.mtbma.org/?page_id=5441
- Maryland Erosion and Sedimentation Certification (E&S) http://www.mtbma.org/?page_id=154
- Two (2) years of experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in ITS construction inspection. College credit may be substituted for experience.
Work Environment: This job generally operates in the field, on construction sites. Driving, walking, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 75lbs.
