ITS Architecture Documentation Update
Drive completed the update of the NYSDOT Region 8 ITS Architecture in June of 2016 and continues to update and maintain the architecture as a part of its contract with NYSDOT. As a part of the NYSDOT Region 8 ITS Architecture, Drive rebuilt the entire database from the original 2003 architecture. The original included inventory items for 14 stakeholders. Through the update process, the regional ITS architecture expanded to include inventory elements, roles and responsibilities, requirements, service packages, and standards for 27 stakeholders.
Drive added in all new information for stakeholders including New York State Department of Transportation (Statewide), Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center (NYSDOT Region 8 TMC), two MPOs, New York State Thruway Authority, New York State Bridge Authority, New York State Police, eight regional transit agencies including the Lower Hudson Transit Link operator, and numerous department of public works organizations at the county and municipal level. Today, Drive helps maintain these relationships that help connect the various stakeholders in the Lower Hudson Valley.
Training and Updating of Manuals
Drive updated the TMC Standard Operating Guidelines and developed new operational SOP documents or the NYSDOT. Drive assisted the HVTMC with the review and selection process for a new ITS asset management and maintenance tracking database. Additional projects include enhancements and updates to the HVTMC Operator Training Certification database; development of a Systems Administration Manual, which includes updates to SOP’s as related to systems and field environments.
Systems Standard Operating Procedures
Drive developed a Systems Standard Operations Procedures manual to create a record of institutionalized
Systems Operations procedures. The manual includes topics such as incident response and recovery to cyber security detections and intrusions. The manual also covers day-to-day performance monitoring and troubleshooting of relevant systems within the HVTMC. Drive team members performed a gap analysis to determine SOP needs, developing Systems SOP (IT and ITS devices) to document day to day network operations and to troubleshoot/reestablish network operations.
Website Development
Drive Engineering developed the Region 8 ITS Architecture portion of the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center’s (HVTMC) website, the Hudson Valley Traveler, from conception to completion. Drive restyled the legacy Hudson Valley Traveler pages to give them an updated and modern appearance. The HVTMC website offers accessibility to ITS Architecture information as well as supporting documents, related website links, an Architecture Maintenance Request Form, an ITS Events Calendar, and a Region 8 ITS Architecture mailing list. Drive also developed the Test Plan and Procedures used to verify the website’s functionality prior to and after being made live.
