JOB DESCRIPTION
The Asset Manager is responsible for managing the status, reporting on, and coordinating repair of all field CCTV, VMS, HAR and any other installed hardware, as directed by NYSDOT.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Tasks:
- Attend meetings with NYSDOT and other agencies to become familiar with ITS equipment
- Confirming functional and intended displays of VMS messages
- Investigate reports of equipment malfunctions
- Inventory the operational status of ITS equipment
- Prepare and process records related to JTMC field equipment
- Using NYSDOT supplied ticketing application report identified equipment failures to the appropriate parties and request corrective action be taken. Create ticket for faulty or broken equipment
- Provide equipment status information and assist the State in resolving trouble tickets and work orders.
- Expedite the processing of all work orders, invoices, and other critical paperwork associates with the day-to-day operations of the ITS
- Assist in the planning of safe and visible locations for PVMS when applicable.
- Coordinate with external video providers and confirm video display on 511NY and any other video application as directed by State.
- Host a bi-weekly conference call with State and field resources to review status of open tickets and review repair status.
- Maintain a database which tracks equipment tickets including when tickets are opened, updated, and closed
- Be the liaison for integration of all new ITS equipment added to the system
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to the Operations Manager and Project Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must meet all of the following conditions:
- Associates’ degree or higher in related field with a minimum of National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) level 3 equivalent; or
- Minimum 2 years of equivalent work experience in TMC /Traffic Center
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Oral and written communication
- Computer/Software – including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases
- Public, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals)
- Analytical and organizational skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
It is desired, but not required, that candidates for this position also be proficient in the following areas:
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others in a team environment
- Performing multiple tasks simultaneously and independently
- Strong database skills
- Good communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the ITS Field Assets, their functions and NYC Transportation Network.
